HIGH SCHOOL ESSAY CONTEST

2016-2017 Theme: “We Need Our Pollinators”
The High School Essay Contest is open to any High School student (grades 9-12) sponsored by a federated garden club, group of clubs or council. All entries become the property of NGC, Inc. A certificate and a monetary award of $250.00 will be presented, at the annual meeting, to the winner of the GCSC High School Essay contest. The winning essay will be forwarded to the South Atlantic Region for further competition; the winner at the Regional level will receive $200.00. The Regional winner’s essay is forwarded to NGC, where the national winner receives a $1000.00 scholarship and the second place winner receives $100.00.
ESSAY CONTEST RULES:
The length of the essay must be between 600-700 words; any essay that does not conform to the required length will be penalized. All entries must be typed or computer-generated and titled with the current theme. Essay must be in a format suitable for printing in The National Gardener. Include a sheet listing the name, address, phone number, email address, school attending and grade level, and a list of activities. Include the name of the sponsoring club(s) or council. Inclusion of a photograph of the student is optional.
