ROADSIDE BEAUTIFICATION
The South Carolina Department of Transportation cooperates with civic organizations like the Garden Club of South Carolina, Inc. to undertake projects to beautify sections of highway rights-of way. Their budget allows for approximately ten to fifteen enhancement projects each year that will involve landscaping. The SCDOT desires to have input from our clubs that are located in those areas that have been identified for beautification.
I will serve as the contact point person for possible 2011-2013 Roadside Beautification projects. Please contact me if you have suggestions for such landscaping projects and also I will contact local clubs for their input when projects are selected in their area.
Some of these projects might also be connected with special events such as Arbor Day, July 4th, Blue Star Memorials or other significant occasions.
These projects do not require local garden club funding or manpower unless the club wishes to provide that in addition to the SCDOT’s plan. We will have the ability to give our input to the project if so desired. Please let me know if I can be of help in this ROADSIDE BEAUTIFICATION.
