Camp Wildwood 2011 Report

  •  There were 72 first year campers, 18 second year campers, and 14 third year campers for a total of 104 campers.

  • Campers of the Week were:  Emma Devenny, from Lancaster, SC, sponsored by the Leaf and Petal Garden Club and the Lancaster Garden Club, and Jeremiah Grooms from Greenwood, SC sponsored by the Greenwood 4-H Club.  These two campers exhibited outstanding character and leadership qualities and each one will be awarded a $500 scholarship by GCSC when they begin college.

  • The increase in camper fees has helped to defray the cost tremendously, but it is still a good deal at $200 for the week.   GCSC brought in $12,014.26 through donations and registration fees this past year.  Thank you to all SC garden clubs for your support.

  • Some of the DNR staffers are still volunteering by using vacation time to work at camp.

  • 94% of the campers rated their camp experience as either excellent or “time of your life”.  93% of campers have kept up with other campers after camp.  The highlights of CWW this year were the Night Hike and the 140 foot Slip and Slide.  This infomation is from the evaluations that the campers completed online after camp week.
