Welcome to the West Low Country District
"Sowing the Seeds for Communication”
Welcome to the West Lowcountry District, my name is Norma Miller. I am proud to
serve as your district director for 2011-2013. Our district is the largest in South Carolina,
comprising of forty-eight federated garden clubs and five garden councils, stretching
from North Augusta to the Atlantic Ocean, and encompassing all of Beaufort County.
We are an extremely active district participating in many major projects, such as
“Follow the Blooms”, installation of Blue Star Marker’s throughout the district, “Golden
Days”, Landscaping for Habitat for Humanity homes”, Historic Landscape Initiative.
scholarships for students and many, many other civic projects and events.
As we advance in this modern world of technology, communication amongst our
members has become exceedingly more important, but we must remind ourselves that it
is essential that we share all the acquired information available, to every member.
Hence my theme: “Sowing the Seeds for Communication”.
I have been a garden club member since 1968, starting in New Jersey and since
moving to South Carolina in 1993 a member of Dataw Garden Club and have held many offices throughout the years. I am past President of the Beaufort Council of Garden Clubs, and currently a member of Beaufort Garden Club.
As your new director I will strive to keep the lines of communication open and to further the many projects and goals of GCSC and NGC.
