East Piedmont District Directors Report

The East Piedmont District Meeting was held March 9th at Great Falls in the newly refurbished War Memorial Building. Great Falls Garden Club hosted the meeting with Potting Shed Garden Club of Chester providing the attractive and delicious coffee hour. Our special guest was Betsy Steele, Garden Club of South Carolina President.
Paula Bowen, GCSC Chairman for Follow the Blooms Garden Tours gave us a power point presentation update on the tours.
The ever popular floral designer, Pat Gann enlightened and entertained us with “Designs from the Garden, a design program using fruit, vegetables and flowers. A very lively auction for the designs from the program provided great fun for the attendees. Pat had conducted a design workshop for the Great Falls Garden Club members the day prior to the district meeting in which the club members had assembled the colorful, fresh, spring center pieces used on the luncheon tables. These designs were later given as door prizes.
District Awards were presented with the help of two previous East Piedmont District Directors, Betsy Steele and Pat Troutman. The highlight of the awards portion of the program was the presentation of the District Outstanding Service Award.
This year the award was presented to a club, Gardening on the Cay, Fort Mill.
Before the meeting was adjourned, the incoming District Director, Jackie Palmer, and the incoming Co- Director, Donna Hummelman were introduced to the group. The District Gavel was presented to Jackie.
The future of The East Piedmont District of The Garden Club of South Carolina is in good hands.
