Club Yearbook Award
Eligible for a district/state award recognizing the Yearbook that point scores the highest in format and program content, as listed on the GCSC Club Yearbook Score Sheet.
Due: Postmarked September 1, 2011 for District Awards
Send one copy to GCSC President, Maida Dantzler and one copy to Jackie Palmer, EP District Director, for their files.
The EP District first place winner in each category will be forwarded to the GCSC Awards Chairman for statewide competition:

Certificates will be issued in all categories for Yearbooks, no cash award.
Club/Council President’s Report Award
Eligible for a district/state award that recognizes the most informative and thorough report of an EPD garden club or council. Report may be secured in a paper binder, using transparent plastic pages to insert printed materials. No loose items. Mail the full report to EP District Director, Jackie Palmer, and one copy to GCSC President, Maida Dantzler – postmarked prior to (by) February 1, 2012.

Winner in each Category for Presidents report receives a $25 award.
EPD awards MAY be taken from the President’s report if it includes a complete, descriptive, informative narrative, and is sent by the postmark deadline as above
DISTRICT AWARDS are completely separate and may differ from STATE Awards (Please be sure to adhere to written instructions applying to each). Note: EPD will continue to require “paper” – Books of Evidence!
Application for State Awards are made directly to GCSC Awards Chairman – Due date for GCSC Awards is December 15, 2011. For information on GCSC, SAR or NGC Awards, please consult the GCSC Handbook, The SC Gardener, and The National Gardener.

- Community Participation Award recognizes a Club, group of clubs, or a Council for a worthy landscaping project with the greatest amount of community participation. $25 award
Youth Award recognizes the Club that sponsors the most original and creative gardening, environmental, recycling, beautification or other GCSC related project working with Youth. This is a separate award from the GTG Award. $25. Award
Conservation/Recycling Award recognizes the Council or Club with the most innovative conservation or recycling project. $25. Award
Garden Therapy Award recognizes the Club or Council with a project involving a Health/Rehab Center, Health Clinic, hospital, doctor’s office. library or similar facility working with a “unique” population that would receive outstanding benefits from said project. $25. Award.
Horticulture Award to a Club or Council for a unique public enjoyment project or program emphasizing any phase of horticulture. $25. Award.
Arbor Day Award recognizes a club with the most outstanding Arbor Day Program. $25 Award- Program Award - awarded to the Club with the most members presenting a program to their club. Program topics must follow the objectives of GCSC. Include a brief description of the program. $25 Award
Roadside Beautification Award to the Club/Council with the most outstanding new roadside beautification project utilizing native horticulture. $25 Award
National Garden Week Award to the Club/Council providing the most comprehensive documentation of activities during the National Garden Week promoting objectives of NGC and GCSC. $25 Award
Carolina Fence Garden Award to the Club/Council for installation of a new CFG, or major restoration of an existing one. $25. Award
Christmas Beautification Award to the Club/Council decorating a community or historic building or house for the holidays, using local, live plant materials. Minimal , non plant materials such as bows/ribbons may be used to enhance the decorations. Photos must be included. $25 Award
Alphia Shrader “Elegance in Design” Award to the Club/Council with the most outstanding arrangement/design using live, cut flowers, particularly roses. Flowers may be purchased and arranged for any occasion for home enjoyment. Must include photo. $25 Award
Butterfly/Bird Award given to the Club/Council for the most innovative garden project that includes plants to attract caterpillars, butterflies and birds. Other butterfly/bird attractions such as water features, and feeders may be included. $25 Award
Good to Grow (GTG)Award given to the Club with the most educational project working with youth to grow nutritional vegetables in a schoolyard garden. $25 Award
Historic Preservation Award given to a Club and/or Council for completion of a project such as restoration of a park, landscaping a historic building, public garden, cemetery or historic marker using native plants. $25 Award
Outstanding Service Award given by EPD Director at her discretion to an individual or Club/Council that has shown exceptional interest and participation within the EPD. No Application. Donated by Jackie Palmer.
A special prize will recognize the Club with the highest percentage of members attending the EPD Spring meeting. Host club excluded. No application. $10 Award for first place, runner up Club will have the choice of being first in the food line or the bathroom line!
