Welcome to the East Low Country District
It is indeed a pleasure and a distinct privilege to serve as your District Director. I am following in some very impressive shoes.
I was born, and have lived, no more than 20 miles from where I live today, in Pineville. I attended school in St. Stephen where I graduated. My husband, Keith, also attended there and I don’t remember the first time I ever met him. We were good friends then and fifty years ago married. We were blessed with a daughter and a son. Our daughter and her husband have further blessed us with a grandson and granddaughter.
Until our daughter was a junior at Francis Marion College, I was a stay-at-home mom, working with the schools and other community projects. I then went to work for Georgia-Pacific as Office Manager and at retirement I was shipping supervisor. Since then I have been very active in garden club work having served two terms as president of Belle Isle GC. I served as 1st V-P of the Council of Garden Clubs of Greater Charleston and then two years as president of that Council. Also have served the past 2 years as GCSC Blue Star Memorial Chairman, and am currently serving in that same position for the next 2 years.
Concentrating on the ELC District, I am looking at some of the most talented and willingly, happily hardworking people I’ve ever know. We have 33 Clubs and 2 Councils. We will continue to celebrate National Garden Week, Arbor Day, and have flower shows to educate the public, plus various community projects that reflect NGC, Inc. objectives. We plan to fully support Maida’s project, Good to Grow. We have strong Committee Chairman. You can go to our District on the GCSC Website to find who they are. They, and I, will help you in any way you need. Together, as a team, we will accomplish much in the next two years.
