Members of Yaupon garden Club met in Becky Rensberger’s
kindergarten classroom on December 2 to talk to the Ecotots
about this Arbor day. Suzanne Gonya spoke to them about
the importance of trees and the many benefits they bring to
everyone. She showed seedlings of various trees such as pine and maple that had sprung up behind her house.
After learning all about trees, the students bundled up and marched
outside to participate in the planting of a tree called a tea olive. They noted that there were already signs of the blossoms that would bloom next spring. A hole had been prepared for the tree, and as soon as the tree was put into place, the students gathered around and took turns adding trowels full of dirt until the hole was filled.

I visited the Camellia Garden Club of Conway and the meeting was wonderful. The enthusiasm and dedication of the members was catching... These ladies are very involved in their community garden clubbing ( is that a word?) Well it should be.
The program on Carolina Yards and Neighborhoods was given by club member and Master Gardener Glenda Sweet and Barbara Davis, Master Gardener, was interesting and lively. Reports ranged from Butterflies to Shade Garden Renovations.
And of course, where there are garden club members..
The refreshments were delightful..
Thank you ladies for a wonderful and informative afternoon.

Georgetown Garden Club Celebrated National Garden Week
with designs and displays
In celebration of National Garden Week, Yaupon Garden Club and Driftwood Garden Club have placed displays in the entrance of the new NMB Library, as well as in other public buildings.

They hope this will promote awareness that gardening is a healthy lifestyle that lasts a lifetime, helps reduce stress from other areas of life and rewards diligent efforts, as promoted by NGC, Inc. In an effort to promote participation by the community, Yaupon provided a wheelbarrow filled with complimentary vegetable and flower seeds as well as packets of compost furnished by the Solid Waste Authority.

The festivities continued at a luncheon at the Surf Club attended by members of both clubs along with several guests. The week will conclude with garden tours and a visit to the NMB Farmers’ Market.
