PATHWAY TO BEAUTIFICATION GRANT PROGRAM
CRITERIA
The Pathway to Beautification Grant Program is funded by The Garden Club of South Carolina, Inc. and is offered to all federated GCSC garden clubs. This grant program allows matching awards up to $500.00 to any GCSC club for the specific purposes of promoting civic beautification and community spirit through garden club projects.
Club project eligible for this grant would include any plan for creating or restoring a garden on the grounds of a public or community building. Schools, churches, nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, community theaters, public parks or any other area open and available to the public or community are all examples of eligible sites.
The National Garden Clubs President Shirley Nicolai is encouraging clubs to promote civic beautification with her Plantings for Public and Special Places project. Two of the three categories of participation are “Container Gardens” and “Trees and Shrubs.” These could certainly be incorporated into a civic beautification project.
To be eligible for a Pathway Grant, a club must meet the following criteria:
Be a federated member of The Garden Club of South Carolina, Inc.

Commit to 75% club participation in grant project.

Have a written garden plan and simple design with basic illustrations.

Have plans for project implementation and maintenance.

Have a budget prepared that shows club’s proposed matching cash contribution to project (may include in-kind contribution).

Submit an application to the Grant Chairman by February 9, 2013.
